Onion Rossa Lunga di Firenze - 59415

A delicious salad onion with juicy, mild, crisp flesh. Lovely, red, elongated bulbs perfect when picked young. The flavour gets stronger the longer it is left to mature. The bulbs start to increase in size with longer days and grow approximately 8-10cm. The ground should be well prepared and nice and warm when planting directly outdoors; once the plants have started growing it’s a good idea to mulch around them to conserve moisture. Plant your rows about 20cm apart. Side dressing with some all purpose fertiliser a couple of times in the first couple of months is advisable, but should cease two months before harvesting. Onion can be started in punnets indoors up to around 10 weeks before planting out, but be sure you have a nice light warm area while they grow. Plant seed approx 2.5cm apart and cover with 5mm of seed raising mix. When transplanting the plants should be at least 5-7cm, bury the crowns 2.5cm into the well prepared soil. Mulching to conserve moisture is recommended.

Carrot Purple - 54235

Like many deep coloured vegetables, purple carrots are loaded with antioxidants which are great for repairing and preventing cell damage. When boiling this variety, colour will leach out dramatically in the water but the carrots still remain a deep purple for serving. (The core may remain white). Very young, raw thinnings are a colourful addition to your salads.

Oriental Pak Choi Joi Choi F1 Hybrid - 59538

Carrot Kuroda - 54165

This is a New Zealand produced carrot. An interesting fact is that here in NZ we grow 40% of the worlds carrot seeds - not bad for such a wee country - Good on yah Mate. Kuroda is a conical, orange main crop carrot, known for its high yields and tender, sweet taste. For those of you who are into smoothies and juicing, it is also a great juicing carrot. Thin plants to between 5-9cm apart for harvest. Grows to approx 20cm in length.

Gherkin Eureka F1 Hybrid - 57100

Great for bottling, these dark green spined gherkins are disease resistant. Earlier we thought this variety produced all "female" flowers, however this information is incorrect, sorry for any confusion. Eureka is monoecious, this means it can have female and male flowers on the same plant.

Courgette Kimber F1 Hybrid - 56012

This courgette is "Parthenocarpic", meaning there is no requirement for bees or insects to assist with pollination and fruit set.
